2011 NFL Draft Results: What Cardinals Get in CB Patrick Peterson

Love it.

Love it, love it, love it.

Did I mention...?

Anyway, to the point...

The Arizona Cardinals got maybe the best overall player in the draft in Patrick Peterson with the fifth pick Thursday night.

In Peterson, they get a 6'1", 220 lb. possible shutdown cornerback.

Now the question is, when does he start?

Is it immediately, like most number five picks will?

Or do the Cardinals start him in the nickel like they did with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, then let him start halfway through the season?

I'm going to say probably immediately, but it's going to be tough with a shorter offseason for him to get used to the Cardinals system.

And while I'm on what his impact will be, will he return punts?

It would certainly help alleviate the pressure on Andre Roberts, so that he could be the number three receiver for the Cardinals.

But more importantly than that, he may give the Cardinals the chance to have the best secondary in the NFC, maybe the NFL, next year.

Me?

I love this pick.

What about you?

What grade would you give it?

I'll give it an A+.

Do we still have needs? Yes.

But heck. We just got maybe the best cornerback since Champ Bailey.
