2011 NFL Mock Draft Sees Jets Bolster Defensive Line With Stephen Paea
The New York Jets may have had one of the best defenses in the NFL last season, but that doesn't mean there aren't areas that need improvement. With aging defensive tackles, the Jets could use a big man in the middle to take up space, and they can get their man in Oregon State's hulking Stephen Paea.

The big man wowed everyone at the combine with his bench press skills, and he's got great strength despite his mediocre size. He's capable of getting into the backfield and wreaking havoc, and has good enough speed to pursue the quarterback. Against the run, he's a fanstastic space filler with the reach and size to cause trouble and fill plenty of space, which is exactly what the Jets are looking for.
There are injury concerns, particularly on his knees, but he seemed pretty healthy at the combine, and figures to be ready to go next season. The Jets could go for someone like Baylor nose tackle Phil Taylor, but I think Paea could be a great fit in their system with his motor, toughness and skills.
