Dice-K One-Hits Angels as Boston Red Sox Win Seven of Last Eight Games

After an 0-6 start to the 2011 Major League Season, the Boston Red Sox have finally come around and are starting to play like the team most people thought they'd be: unstoppable.

Just 12 days ago, Daisuke Matsuzaka was booed off the mound by the hometown Boston crowd after allowing seven runs in just two innings of work, on Saturday night, Dice-K threw his second consecutive one hitter as the Red Sox blanked the Los Angeles Angeles 5-0.

In his last two starts, Dice-K has thrown 15 innings, struck out 12 and allowed one hit in each game. More importantly, Boston won both games and continues to climb up the AL East Standings.

In the process, Dice-K has lowered his ERA from 12.86 to 4.09.

Boston's offense has finally got a kick-start, thanks in large part to Jed Lowrie, who is hitting .431 since being inserted into the roster back on April 16 against Toronto. Since then, Lowrie has 14 hits in his last eight games, the same eight games where Boston is 7-1.

The season is young, but the Red Sox have finally turned the corner. Josh Beckett looks like an early candidate for the Cy Young award, Dice-K has been un-hittable his last two starts, Jon Lester has won his last two starts, and Clay Buchholz got his first win against Gio Gonzalez and the Oakland A's, the same Gonzalez who had a .47 ERA going into his matchup with Buchholz.
