LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Michael Young was told by the Rangers that he will not be traded, a source told FanHouse Wednesday. The Rangers had engaged in serious talks with the Rockies, according to sources Tuesday, after letting it be known that Young was available in trade.
Young, who has played for Texas his entire major league career, is signed through 2013 at a rate of $16 million per season. He has a limited no-trade clause in his current contract and can only be traded to eight teams, but that will become a full no-trade clause next May when he gains 10-and-5 rights.
Young turned 34 in October and hit .284 with 21 homers, 91 RBI and a .774 OPS during the 2010 season.
