Carolina Panthers Draft: Is Williams taking his talents to South Beach?
Carolina running back DeAngelo Williams has stated that he wants to remain with the Panthers. He's spoken of staying loyal to the team that drafted him and helped him turn into a two-time 1,000-yard rusher.
But he doesn't want to stick around if the Panthers don't get better at quarterback and hopes the Miami Dolphins seek out his services, reports CBSSports.com.
Miami is facing the free agency of running backs Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams as soon as a new Collective Bargaining Agreement is reached. It's also less certain now that the Dolphins will draft Mark Ingram 15th overall.
With all that considered, the Dolphins seem like a likely suitor for Williams. He's a proven back with only two 200+ carry seasons on his legs.
Carolina still has Jonathan Stewart and Mike Goodson was solid last season as the team dealt with injuries to Williams and Stewart. They'll need to fill out the depth chart if Williams bolts. If a new CBA isn't reached before the draft, the Panthers won't know if he will and, thus, won't know if they need to draft a back.
