Ray Allen saved the Boston Celtics from the jaws of defeat once again on Sunday, confirming his status as one of the greatest crunch-time snipers in NBA history this side of Reggie Miller.
Allen drained what proved to be the game-winning three-pointer with 12 seconds left in the game to hand Boston a 1-0 series lead in their fist-round clash with the New York Knicks.
The veteran sharpshooter helped the Celtics overcome what was an otherwise lackluster performance, a game that featured 18 turnovers and Boston holding a lead for just one minute of the second half.
However, thanks to some strong play down the stretch from this veteran ball club and yet another timely three-pointer from the man who's made a career out of hitting them, the Celtics now hold a 1-0 lead in the series on a day when many top teams fell victim to the upset bug.
As if Allen weren't enough action for you, LeBron James' role just got bigger, with the news that Dwyane Wade might not be able to play in the next game of their series, while Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer continues to battle a virus that may or may not be contributing to the leg weakness that put him on the disabled list earlier this week.
In other words, we've got plenty to talk about today, and we're just getting started.
