Georges St-Pierre and Jake Shields To Be Featured On Primetime Specials Leading Up To UFC 129
In anticipation for their welterweight championship fight in 19 days at UFC 129, Georges St-Pierre and Jake Shields are going to get their own three-week UFC Primetime special that will air on Spike beginning this Wednesday at midnight.
Here?s a portion of the press release from UFC.com:
UFC Primetime, produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), is a look into the lives and preparation of St-Pierre, arguably the world?s best pound-for-pound fighter, and Shields, who has notched 15 straights wins over the likes of Yushin Okami and Dan Henderson and has not lost since 2004, as the showdown between the two welterweight titans in Toronto approaches.
Spike TV will present three special weekly installments that will take viewers to the Bay Area of California to see how Shields is honing his patented ?American Jiu Jitsu? skills for his title shot, and to Montreal to see how St-Pierre, one of the most beloved athletes in Canada, is preparing for his title defense.
It?s no secret that UFC has very big aspirations for UFC 129 and they look to be pulling out all the stops for the show. I do question announcing the show only three days before it is supposed to air on television, but at least they did announce it shortly ahead of time.

This event is going to feature the largest North American crowd in mixed martial arts history with over 55,000 people packed into the Rogers Centre in Toronto to see all the action that UFC has to offer.
This will be the fifth Primetime series that UFC has done, the most recent one coming before the Cain Velasquez-Brock Lesnar fight last October. They basically, as the press release says, just give you an inside look at the inner workings of each fighters training camp and how they are preparing for the fight.
It?s really exciting to see UFC going all out for this event, which is shaping up to be the biggest in company history.
