Eagles vs. Seahawks: Why Philadelphia Will Struggle To Contain Marshawn Lynch

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has been on a roll lately. The 25-year-old Cal product has scored a touchdown in a remarkable seven straight games and has gone over 100 yards in three of his last four.

Last weekend against the Washington Redskins, Lynch rushed 24 times for 111 yards and added a 20-yard touchdown catch. Tonight he will line up against a Philadelphia Eagles team that boasts a very weak linebacking corps and currently ranks 15th in the NFL against the run, allowing 110.3 yards per game. I expect him to have another solid performance.

In 10 games this season, Lynch has rushed for 706 yards and six touchdowns on 180 carries. He has also caught 20 passes for 170 yards and a score. He struggled to get going early in the season, and then injured his back while warming up for the team's Week 7 matchup with the Cleveland Browns. He sat out that game but returned in Week 8 and has been on fire ever since.

Over the past six games he has played, Lynch has carried the ball 134 times for 565 yards and five touchdowns. He has also racked up 13 catches for 120 yards and a score.

Those are great numbers, especially when you consider that in one of those games (Week 8 against the Bengals) he was still recovering from his back injury.

The Eagles have struggled against the run this season and because the Seahawks have an extremely shaky quarterback situation, they can expect to see a heavy dose of Lynch tonight. He is averaging 26.5 carries over the past four games and I expect that to continue again tonight.

Philadelphia will have a tough time keeping Lynch from eclipsing the 100-yard mark again this week.
