It might not be the event he had hoped for, but UFC middleweight contender Vitor Belfort will get the chance to fight again when he takes on Japanese star Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 133 this summer.
According to Bloodyelbow.com, the anticipated bout is expected to take place on August 6th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The news was officially announced by UFC president Dana White today, courtesy of UFC.com.
"After three straight Fight of the Night performances, Yoshihiro Akiyama will take on former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort August 6 in Philadelphia," he said.
Both fighters are looking to return to the win column since their recent showings inside the octagon.
Vitor Belfort is coming off of a knockout loss to UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, while Akiyama has looked less than impressive throughout his tenure in the UFC, suffering back-to back losses at the hands of Michael Bisping and Chris Leben.
